Where to Find Good Topics for Psychology Research Paper

Many psychology students in university get swamped with the number of theories out there and struggle then to find a good research topic to work on. There are a number of good places you can start off to look for topics:

  • Read other research papers. They always have one unanswered question
  • Read more books
  • Question your seniors

This article will discuss various places WHERE you can find these resources and therefore get started with your research paper.

LIBRARIES

University libraries are very resourceful but underused. Many students do not understand how valuable a library can be when they are looking for a particular thing, especially when it comes to research papers. Your university library surely has books in the specialization you are looking for. Even if they don’t, the references section in the library has other research papers written by other students. These can turn out to be very helpful when you are looking for a place to start with your research.

PROFESSORS

You will definitely be assigned a lecturer to work with you and help you when you get stuck at a specific point. They are assigned for a reason; they probably are experts in your field and know what they are talking about. If you ask them, they will be more than happy to help you out. These are a few of the most resourceful people you will find on campus, so do make full use of them and they will be happy to hear you out as well.

INTERNET

When all else fails, you can Google it! Many would not recommend this option because the internet sometimes can be very misleading. However, if you look in the right direction, you will be surprised by how much information the internet can give you in terms of research topics. They will also provide you with sample research papers (most probably at a small fee) and you can read through them to see if there is something in them that interests you.

The choice is yours at the end of the day. You can choose to jump the gun and go straight to Google, but be wary of what you find. I would recommend working through the list in that order because the internet, however wonderful and awesome it may be, is also full of useless information. Take your time to choose your topic and once you have it, you will find it very easy to write the rest of your paper.
